How our Whole House Plan works

Taking on any refurbishment or renovation project, however big or small, can seem daunting. But it doesn’t have to be that way. At Cosy Homes Oxfordshire we’ve devised a Whole House Plan service to take the stress out of planning your home retrofit and improving your home comfort.

From considering smaller measures such as upgrading your heating system to whole house eco-retrofits, our home retrofit service can help you live in a cosier, healthier, and more energy-efficient home. Retrofitting your home can enhance it in multiple ways. For Tina and Richard in Headington, for instance, home retrofit helped tackle dampness and mould, and is keeping their house at a constant temperature, whilst also reducing their energy bills.

What is home retrofit?

Retrofitting involves making changes to your home to enhance its energy efficiency. This can encompass various measures, such as installing solid wall or loft insulation, fitting new windows or doors, upgrading the heating system, implementing draught-proofing, or adding ventilation and solar panels. The options are wide-ranging.

It doesn’t always have to be on a whole house scale. Home retrofits can also include smaller measures, for instance, the insulation of walls, upgrading of windows, and installing renewable heating and electricity generating systems.

The Whole House Plan

The Whole House Plan is your very own tailored home energy audit and retrofit recommendations report. Our trusted team will guide you through the process of retrofitting your home that is quality-assured and cost-effective, offering maximum impact with minimal disruption. Ensuring that any work is done at the right time for you and your home.

“The Whole House Plan provided a holistic view of where we could make energy saving improvements. The written report is well-structured as it gives a good overview summary and then goes into detail for lots of different options – including information about carbon footprint.  Excellent value for money! I have already recommended Cosy Homes to several other people!

The first step in the process is to use our free Plan Builder to create a draft home retrofit plan for your home, based on existing energy data, tailored to your budget, and the types of measures you’re hoping to explore. Submit this plan through the Plan Builder to our team, and we’ll be in touch to discuss the next steps.

Having the Whole House Plan done does not oblige you to proceed with any work. Nor does it mean that all the steps need to be carried out in a single phase, as most recommendations will provide two or three phases of retrofit work – each of which can build on the previous one. Therefore, your Whole House Plan becomes a key reference document for your home whenever the opportunity for additional improvement arises.

What’s the role of a Retrofit Coordinator?

You’ll be assigned a Retrofit Coordinator once your retrofit needs have been assessed. Our coordinators are qualified home retrofit experts who will help guide you through all the stages of the renovation project. Most importantly, they act as the quality assurer for full peace of mind.

The RetrofitWorks model – a model built on trust

As home retrofit specialists, we have a qualified team to see you all the way through your retrofit journey. We set out the technical requirements for the contractors and advise you on quote specifications for contractors before any work starts.

Under the guidance of our Retrofit Coordinators, we can help you make an informed decision on the energy-efficient improvements that are best suited to your wants and needs.
