94% of heat pump owners are happy with their choice
A national survey – reported by the Daily Mail – found that people with heat pumps are even more satisfied with their heating than those with gas boilers.
Most people are content with their gas boiler – and it’s no surprise, as gas has been the standard for decades. But the real surprise in this new survey is that homeowners with A recent survey of UK homeowners, reported by the Daily Mail, found 94% of heat pump owners are happy with their system – higher than for gas boilers. It shows that, with the right advice and preparation, heat pumps can deliver real comfort and satisfaction.heat pumps are even more satisfied. In fact, 94% say they’re happy with their system, compared with 85% for boilers.
The Daily Mail recently reported on a national survey showing that when households make the switch to a heat pump, most are glad they did. That reflects what we see here in Oxfordshire too: with the right advice and preparation, heat pumps can deliver reliable comfort and efficiency in many homes.
A recent survey of 3,000 UK homeowners, conducted in three waves between October 2024 and April 2025 as part of the Homeowner Electrification Tracker Study (HETS), revealed that 94% of people with heat pumps are satisfied with their system (50% extremely satisfied, 44% satisfied).
In comparison, 85% of gas boiler users say they’re happy with their heating system – still a majority, but not as high as for heat pumps.
Other systems (oil, coal, electric storage heaters etc.) report much lower satisfaction.
This matters because many people see heat pumps as “risky” or unproven; this evidence suggests that with proper advice and preparation, heat pumps will deliver comfort, warmth and efficiency that match or exceed expectations.
Of course, a heat pump may not be suitable for every home. Key factors include insulation, radiator size, electrical rates, and choosing good installers.
