Webinar recording: air source and ground source heat pumps
A guide to using air source or ground source heat pumps as a low carbon home heating system
This autumn Cosy Homes Oxfordshire is holding a series of fortnightly online webinars exploring topics relating to home retrofit and energy efficiency. In this third webinar of the series we explored a popular home retrofit measure: heat pumps.
Natasha Ginks, one of our Cosy Homes Oxfordshire expert Retrofit Coordinators and owner of Renovate Green, led the webinar. She covered how air source and ground source heat pumps work as a heating system, why they’re a good option to improve energy efficiency, what installation looks like, what types of homes they work for, and more. She also covered funding available to support installation of a heat pump, including Renewable Heat Incentive and the Green Homes Grant.
We were also joined by Tim Lunel who is a homeowner in Hook Norton who has recently had his oil-fired boiler replaced with an air source heat pump through Cosy Homes Oxfordshire. He shared his experience: why he decided to opt for an air source heat pump, what the installation was like, and the impact it’s had on his home and comfort so far.
Questions were taken throughout, and our speakers also stayed on at the end of the webinar for more in-depth discussions with a couple of audience members who were considering a heat pump for their own homes.
