International Energy Agency: ‘Ban new gas boilers to reach net-zero’
19 May 2021
The International Energy Agency (IEA) have advised that no new fossil fuel boilers should be sold from 2025 onwards if the world is to achieve net-zero emissions by the middle of this century.
This is part of their newly released report Net Zero by 2050, covering 400 steps we need to take worldwide to meet net zero.
The best alternative currently to gas boilers are heat pumps – but this would require investment and funding by the government to enable all homeowners to be able to switch their gas boiler for a low carbon alternative.
