Councils are struggling to meet ‘unrealistic’ deadlines for Green Homes Grant
24 May 2021
The Green Homes Grant scheme for homeowners was scrapped in March of this year. At this time the Government allocated an additional £300 million of funding to the Local Authority Delivery side of the Green Homes Grant scheme, wherein households could access Green Homes Grant funding through their local council.
Inside Housing has found that councils are struggling to spend the money they have been allocated via the scheme, which has been beset by much of the same issues as the voucher programme. Councils have until the end of September to complete works, if they are to be funded through the programme – an incredibly tight deadline which local authorities are struggling to meet.
