This week Business secretary Kwasi Kwarteng has said that he is in talks with the chancellor to bring back an ‘equivalent’ scheme to the Green Homes Grant – which was scrapped in March – to encourage homeowners to decarbonise their homes.

In a BBC interview, he also highlighted some of the issues with the original Green Homes Grant, including the high cost of heat pumps and the quick turnaround asked of suppliers to gain accreditation.

The government’s plan for decarbonising buildings is set to be outlined the heat and building strategy, which is expected to be published this autumn.
