We don’t sell heat pumps… but these homeowners might.
At Cosy Homes Oxfordshire, we don’t install or sell heat pumps. But we’ve supported plenty of people who now wouldn’t dream of going without one.
Heat pumps are one of the smartest ways to heat your home – reducing energy use, cutting carbon emissions, and improving comfort year-round. But like any home upgrade, they work best when they’re part of a bigger picture.
A heat pump on its own isn’t enough
Installing a heat pump is a strong step towards decarbonising your home – but it’s not the full story. Without proper insulation or ventilation, you could be missing out on efficiency, comfort, and long-term savings.
That’s where we come in. Our job is to help you plan the right combination of measures for your home. We look beyond single solutions – taking in insulation, heating, ventilation, energy storage and renewables – so everything works together, seamlessly and efficiently.
Why heat pumps matter now more than ever
In 2024, we passed a global milestone: more than 190 million heat pumps installed worldwide. That’s millions of homes enjoying clean, efficient heating – all while reducing their reliance on fossil fuels.
But here in the UK, we’re still lagging behind. As of 2023, we’ve installed just 220,000 – compared with over 5 million in France, which is now adding more than a million each year. If we want to meet our 2030 net zero targets, we need to step up – and fast.
Is a heat pump right for your home?
The benefits are clear:
- Energy savings – Heat pumps use up to three times less energy than a traditional boiler
- Lower emissions – No combustion, no flue, no direct carbon
- Year-round comfort – Many heat pumps provide cooling in summer and heating in winter
- Improved air quality – No burning gas means cleaner indoor air
- Smart, future-proof investment – Especially when paired with solar panels, insulation, and battery storage
But they’re not a plug-and-play solution. The most successful installations come with planning – which is why we always recommend a Whole House Plan.
Real stories from real homes
As we’ve said, we don’t sell heat pumps… but these proud homeowners just might. Our customers are proof that heat pumps, as part of a wider plan, can make your home more comfortable and energy-efficient. Don’t just take our word for it – hear it from them:
David in Abingdon
“Our gas meter is gone, and our bills are down to around £800 a year for a four-bed house. The heat pump runs quietly, works with our solar battery, and the Hive app makes it easy to control. It’s been a brilliant switch.”
Robin and Mary in Headington, Oxford
“Cosier winters at just 17°C indoors, lower emissions, and no more boiler breakdowns. The heat pump outperforms our old gas system – hands down.”
Lis in East Oxford
“Before, our home was barely liveable during the day. Now it’s consistently warm and comfortable. We’ve removed the gas supply entirely and power the system through solar and renewable electricity.” Read the full story
Heather and Paul, Didcot
“Replacing our fossil fuel boiler transformed the comfort of our home. It’s warm all year and our emissions have dropped significantly.” Read their full story
Trish and Tim, Hook Norton
“We wanted to get off oil and be able to use the electricity from our solar panels more effectively.” Read their full story
Robin in Henley-on-Thames
“Our heat pump design was precise – every room calculated, some radiators upgraded. Paired with a battery and variable-rate electricity, our system runs mostly on off-peak power and delivers real returns.”
Meg, North Oxford
“A large home – no problem. The heat pump was a perfect match.” Read the full story
Peter and Maggie in Sandford-on-Thames
“We’ve already noticed the difference. Our home is consistently warm, and we’ve reduced our fossil fuel use.” Read their full story
Danny in East Oxford
“Energy use and emissions down by 60%, bills lower, and no more temperature swings. The heat pump brings steady, even warmth – it’s a whole new way of heating, and we’re never going back.”
